Derek Allomes, Executive Chef

New Zealand chef Derek Allomes heads our kitchen team with a strong focus on quality products sourced locally and prepared in his very own modern European style that reflects the essence of a high country station.

Derek has trained in the kitchens of some of New Zealand's most renowned chefs with over 14 years of professional background in new Zealand, United Kingdom and Australia. Derek has won many top awards and accolades including the Beef and Lamb Hallmark of Excellence among others.

Derek's passion and devotion to creating a great dining experience is evident in every aspect of the kitchen, from the harmonious menu to the elegant yet flavourful dishes he creates.

Louise Urquhart has recently returned to Grasmere to continue her love affair with the high country. She is thrilled to have the opportunity to work with such a creative team and supports them in their endeavour to provide a fine dining experience.
