Driving to Grasmere
From Christchurch airport go straight ahead at the first roundabout (just by the airport carpark). At the second roundabout, which is a large main one, turn right into Russley Rd, and about three kilometres on, at the traffic lights, turn right again.
That puts you onto Yaldhurst Rd and State Highway 73, which is the road we’re on.
You’ll be following signs for “Arthur’s Pass,” and you’ll go through villages called Kirwee, Darfield and Sheffield, before reaching Springfield. Grasmere is about 90 minutes from Christchurch, and 45 minutes past Springfield.
If you are driving from a hotel in Christchurch, ask at the front desk for directions to get you onto Riccarton Rd. Keep going west to where it becomes Yaldhurst Rd, then follow the directions above.
