Grasmere Lodge has just been named one of the 10 best hotels in the world for curling up in front of a roaring fire in winter and being pampered.
The American newspaper USA Today recommended the New Zealand lodge to its 5.2 million daily readers,** saying "Here at Grasmere Lodge, tucked away in the heart of the Southern Alps of New Zealand, guests find luxury blending with natural splendour. The Grasmere Suite is the perfect retreat, with a 'sink into me' sofa and armchairs in front of the schist (a type of stone) fireplace."

"Business has been particularly good this year after being named in the book "1,000 Places to See Before You Die," said Mr Butler.
"A mention like this in such a widely-read newspaper reflects the hard work put in by founders Oliver and Vicki Newbegin and all our staff over the years."
